Coaching Education Program Information

 

Note: All coaches (head, assistants & volunteers) must to be properly certified and cleared in FinalForms prior to assuming their role as a coach. 


Member School NCEP Compliance:

  • All schools are required to submit all coaches certification information on FinalForms. (Head, Assistant and Volunteer, paid or non-paid)

The National Federation (NFHS) and the Human Kinetics: Coach Education both offer online courses for coaches certification. Credit card payments only.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: Which NIAA regulation deals with Coaches Education requirements and what are they?
ANSWER:
NAC 385B.798 requires that all coaches be properly certified. Coaches must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety, NFHS Concussion in Sports class (must be renewed every three years), as well as being current in their CPR certification.

FAQ: Are these classes only available online?
ANSWER: Yes

FAQ: Who is required to take these classes?
ANSWERALL COACHES (Head, Assistant and Volunteer)

FAQ: Do courses completed prior to the online offerings still valid?
ANSWER: Yes. Only for prior completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching and First Aid courses. Documentation (Waiver Letter from NIAA) must be uploaded into FinalForms.

FAQ: Are there exceptions in place to have NCEP requirement(s) waived?
ANSWER: Yes. The First Aid course may be waived if the coach is a registered EMT or has taken a equivalent course (see NCEP info sheet for details). The Fundamentals of Coaching may be waived if the coach has a degree in Coaching or Physical Education (transcript required). Documentation (Waiver Letter from NIAA) must be uploaded into FinalForms.
