NIAA / Jostens State Academic Championship award winners

NIAA / Jostens State Academic Championship award winners

Each season the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association, the non-profit governing body of high school athletics in the Silver State, and Jostens, the NIAA's corporate partner, are proud to present a special award to the varsity sport teams with the highest grade point average in each classification.

The team grade point average is determined by taking the individual GPA's of varsity team members from the previous semester and then computing an overall team average.

The NIAA and the Jostens also recognize those varsity student-athletes who achieved a 4.0 GPA the previous semester by naming them to the All-State Academic Team.

The NIAA considers this state academic championship award to certainly be equal to the athletic championship award. As the NIAA, coaches and administrators should always stress, the competitors are students first, then athletes.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes for their efforts both in the classroom and at the athletic venue.
