FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: What NIAA / NAC Regulation deals with Coaches Education requirements and what are they? ANSWER: NAC 385B.798 requires that all coaches be properly certified. Coaches must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety as well as being current in their CPR certification. ALSO, the NFHS Concussion in Sports class (FREE), must be completed (every three years).

FAQ: Are these classes only available online? ANSWER: Yes.

FAQ: Who is required to take these classes?
ANSWERALL COACHES (Head, Assistant and Volunteer) 

FAQ: Are coaches who have coached in Nevada continuously since July 1999 "grandfathered in" ?
ANSWER: Yes.  Documentation (Waiver Letter from NIAA) should be uploaded into "Final Forms".

FAQ: Are there exceptions (policies) in place to have either NCEP requirement(s) waived?
ANSWER: Yes.  The Nevada Coaching Education Program requirements can be waived if a coach has a degree (major or minor) in Coaching or Physical Education from an accredited institution. Transcript will be requested before a written waiver from the NIAA is issued. For other waiver Information - click here.
